Dell Children’s Medical Center Camp- Volunteer Day- Giving back!

AWrapped in Love is honored to be part of the first Dell Children’s Staff Camp Day by donating blanket kits and tote bags for the children to make blankets and distribute to patients. Each of the 75 children who attended had a part in making the 20 blankets made that day.

The camp was designed to give the children a taste of being a volunteer and the types of activities their volunteers participate in while there and how they can make their patients stay a little less stressful. The children enjoyed the event and liked – knowing that they will be comforting patients.

Thank you for being an inspiration and giving back – and helping to spread love in Austin!

We would like to express our sincere sympathy to Diane McKeever’s family and friends. In memory of Diane McKeever, who passed on March 18, 2013 we were honored to learn from her friend Ruth Poe, that while Diane was undergoing cancer treatment she had purchased fleece material and had made several no sew fleece tied blankets to donate to support our mission. After Diane’s passing Ruth found a Wrapped in Love tote bag and gathered that Diane was a recipient of a blanket and now she was passing it on to help comfort others. Thank you so much for contacting us and donating the blankets and fabric, they will comfort many patients, we are very grateful.

It was a pleasure to meet everyone at the “American Cancer Society 25th Cancer Survivor Event.” We were thrilled to learn that many people who attended the event had received a Wrapped in Love blanket and loved it and would like to make blankets and pass it on! Thank you for sharing your courageous stories, it was a very inspirational day!
While visiting my daughters, in Austin recently, Robin and I delivered blankets and tote bags to the “Texas Oncology Center” where my husband received his first chemotherapy treatment. It brought back a lot of memories of the many days and long hours we spent there.

My husband often said; “What about now? What can help me now, I’m freezing. Cancer research is great, but what about the present moment!”

Knowing that we can help to bring warmth and comfort others with a simple gift of a blanket, made with love and given with love makes my heart smile. :) I know Jim, must be smiling too, knowing that his words did make a difference and others will not be cold! Thank you ALL for helping us to spread LOVE!!!!
